Lousã Castle protects the Schist Villages
The 11th-century castle, dates from the pacification of the territory of Lousã by Sisnando Davides, and was used a summer retreat by the court of Queen Mafalda.
Legend has it that under the stones of the castle would be hidden the treasure of the legendary king Arunce who, accompanied by his daughter Princess Peralta, had taken refuge here, after his defeat of Conímbriga.
